President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation headed by Vice-President of the European Commission, Commissioner for the Promotion of the European Way of Life Margaritis Schinas.

"I am glad to host You. In particular, I would like to thank both the EU and You for two important decisions taken by the EU Council on July 22: providing assistance to Armenia within the framework of the "European Peace Facility" and for the launch of the dialogue on visa regime liberalization.
We attach great importance to these two decisions, especially the last one, a decision that was very much awaited in our society. Of course, we have a lot to do, but the main thing is that the start has been given. Thank You for your trust," President Khachaturyan specifically said in his speech.

Margaritis Schinas thanked for the welcome and noted that they attach great importance to the announcement of the launch of the dialogue on visa regime liberalization and constant efforts should be made in this direction to implement further steps.

During the meeting, issues related to the contribution of efforts needed to further expand the multifaceted Armenia-European Union cooperation were discussed.
The sides mutually stressed the importance of continuous steps aimed at developing existing cooperation and consistently stimulating the implementation of reforms initiated by the Armenian side towards strengthening democratic institutions.

Over the course of the conversation, the sides exchanged views on regional developments and the general situation. In this context, the president outlined Armenia's unequivocal position in relations with its neighbors in achieving stable and lasting peace based on the principles of sovereignty, mutual trust and neighborliness.
