President Vahagn Khachaturyan met with President of Peru Dina Boluarte
Within the framework of his working visit to Latin America, the President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, met with the President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Boluarte, in Lima.
Welcoming President Khachaturyan, Dina Boluarte emphasized that this is the first time in history that a President of Armenia has visited Peru, which testifies to the commitment of both countries to strengthening friendship and cooperation. She noted that this visit would provide a new impetus for closer and expanded relations between the two states, which represent two ancient civilizations.
President Khachaturyan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighted the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in finding common ground for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of effective collaboration in various international platforms, including within the framework of the Forum of Ancient Civilizations, and discussed ways to further enhance this cooperation. They also addressed the preservation and mutual presentation of cultural heritage as a key component of bilateral relations.
The discussion also touched on steps to accelerate the liberalization of the visa regime between the two countries. Both sides agreed that introducing visa facilitation mechanisms would encourage citizen exchanges and boost tourism flows, strengthening people-to-people ties between Armenia and Peru.
President of Peru congratulated President Khachaturyan on Armenia’s upcoming hosting of the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP-17). In this context, President Khachaturyan emphasized that Armenia would be pleased to welcome Peru’s participation in the conference at the highest possible level.
Both interlocuters unequivocally stressed the paramount importance of establishing peace. They agreed that sustainable development and prosperity are possible only in a peaceful and predictable environment, which requires continuous efforts from the international community.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the necessity of enhancing cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and tourism sectors, among others. In this regard, they underscored the importance of continuing political consultations, which began last year. They also agreed to promote intergovernmental ties and support joint initiatives aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the leaders of Armenia and Peru reaffirmed their commitment to fostering mutually beneficial cooperation and expressed their conviction that Armenia-Peru relations have significant potential for development, which will serve the well-being of both states and their peoples.
