Presidents of Armenia and Georgia made statements to the Press

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan and President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili summarized the outcomes of their meetings in Yerevan in statements made to representatives of the mass media.

Statement by President Vahagn Khachaturyan:

“I am very pleased to host You and the delegation You lead in Armenia.

In recent times, relations between Armenia and Georgia have been characterized by great dynamism and expanding content. The interstate relations between Armenia and Georgia are based on the logic of strategic partnership, democratic values, the sovereignty of our states, as well as the shared Christian value system and the common vision for the future of our two friendly peoples. High-level visits continue to take place regularly. Cooperation is developing and deepening across all areas of public administration.

The unprecedented intensification of cooperation in recent years and the establishment of a strategic partnership have created a stable foundation and oblige us to multiply our efforts toward deepening mutually beneficial collaboration.

I consider the mutual recognition of territorial integrity by Armenia and Georgia to be of great importance, as it serves as a factor for strengthening stability and peace in the South Caucasus. Our relations with Georgia are developing in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

Today, together with my counterpart, we addressed a broad range of bilateral agenda issues between Armenia and Georgia, including political, economic, educational, cultural, sports, and youth-related topics.

Dear attendees,

Of course, we also had discussions today on issues related to regional stability and the establishment of lasting peace. Armenia is resolute in advancing the peace agenda and will continue its constructive engagement in the peace process. I want to once again emphasize that the text of the “Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” has been finalized and is ready to be signed. We anticipate that a comprehensive peace agreement with Azerbaijan can be achieved.

Honorable Mr. President,

Armenia highly values Georgia’s efforts aimed at strengthening stability and security in the South Caucasus, as well as its support for the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

We welcome Georgia’s initiatives to create trilateral cooperation platforms and appreciate Georgia’s role in identifying areas of cooperation and implementing joint economic projects.

We also exchanged views on several internationally significant issues, geopolitical developments, and regional perspectives.

In conclusion, I would like to express my confidence that Armenia and Georgia will continue to deepen and strengthen their partnership relations for the benefit of our friendly peoples and the entire region.”
