President Vahagn Khachaturyan hosted Ambassador of Italy Alessandro Ferranti
On Italy’s National Day, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia, Alessandro Ferranti.
Welcoming the ambassador, the President stated: “I warmly congratulate You on this special day, which symbolizes freedom and democracy for the Italian people.
Italy is renowned worldwide as a bearer of civilizational values. The impact Italy has had on human history and cultural development is invaluable. The ties between Armenia and Italy, as well as between the Armenian and Italian peoples, are deeply rooted, as ancient as our histories. Today, Italy holds particular significance for Armenia. Our relations are built on the understanding that we share the same values. I am confident that during Your mission, You are guided by these very principles, contributing to the closer ties between our countries and peoples.”
Ambassador Ferranti expressed his gratitude for the reception, saying: “Mr. President, I would like to express my deep appreciation for Your time and warm welcome. It has already been four months since I had the honor of presenting my credentials to You. Today, I wish to convey President Mattarella’s best wishes and sincere words of friendship.
Your warm words during our first meeting inspired me. Over the past months, I have had many positive and productive meetings with representatives of Armenia’s state structures, organizations, and institutions. I have personally felt how deep and strong the bonds of friendship are between our peoples.”
During the meeting, the sides discussed key issues on the Armenia–Italy agenda, as well as potential directions for expanding cooperation.
The ambassador presented recent developments in the field of economic cooperation. In particular, he mentioned the establishment of the Italian Trade Agency office within the embassy to strengthen ties between Armenian and Italian business communities. The ambassador also highlighted several upcoming programs aimed at deepening economic cooperation and opening new opportunities between the two countries.
Both sides expressed satisfaction regarding the noticeable increase in tourism between the two nations. It was noted that the rise in tourist flows reflects a high level of mutual interest and trust.
The conversation also touched upon opportunities for sharing Italy’s best practices in education, culture, high technologies, and related fields.
The ongoing development of cooperation in the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage was also discussed, with a view to safeguarding historical and cultural values.
During the conversation, the ambassador assured that Italy is making consistent efforts to make the Schengen visa process more accessible and convenient for Armenian citizens.
