President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador of Egypt to Armenia Serenade Gamil

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Serenade Gamil, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to Armenia, on the occasion of Egypt’s national holiday – Revolution Day.

The President congratulated the Ambassador, the leadership of Egypt, and the brotherly people of Egypt on the occasion, wishing them peace, development, and success.

“Thanks to Your efforts as well, Armenian-Egyptian relations are continuously developing and achieving success. It is no coincidence that Egypt was one of the first countries to open an embassy in Armenia, and Armenia opened one of its first embassies in Cairo. The Armenian community established in Egypt also plays a significant role in these relations,” said the President welcoming the Ambassador.

President Khachaturyan also noted that Egypt is a friendly country for Armenia, and the ties between the two peoples are based on historical basis.

“Egypt and Armenia are countries bearing ancient civilizations, and there are many commonalities between our peoples,” said the President. He highlighted that the high-level political relations established between Armenia and Egypt provide wide opportunities to deepen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. The President added that this political dialogue has a positive impact on the development of business relations as well, creating new opportunities for economic cooperation.

Ambassador Serenade Gamil thanked the President for the warm reception, stating: “Mr. President, it is a great honor for me to meet with You. On the eve of our national holiday, Your warm attitude and support have special significance. I thank You for the support You consistently show during the implementation of my diplomatic mission in Armenia, which is aimed at the continuous development of our bilateral relations.”

The Ambassador pointed to the official visit of President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Armenia at the beginning of 2023, noting that it served as a new impetus for strengthening Armenian-Egyptian relations and deepening cooperation. Serenade Gamil also emphasized the significant contribution of the Armenian community in Egypt to the country’s development.

During the meeting, the development agenda and prospects of Armenian-Egyptian relations were discussed. President Khachaturyan also highly appreciated Egypt’s balanced and constructive approach to Armenia’s efforts aimed at establishing peace in the region.
