President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador of Lebanon Maya Dagher

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lebanon to Armenia, Maya Dagher, on the occasion of the conclusion of her diplomatic mission.

President Khachaturyan expressed gratitude to Ambassador Dagher for her work, emphasizing that the Armenian people’s attitude toward Lebanon has historically been shaped by warm friendly ties and shared values.

“I am sure You are well aware of our feelings towards the state and people of Lebanon. Believe me, every event that takes place in Lebanon, whether positive or negative, is received here with the same heartfelt concern as if it were happening in our own country.

We have always felt the need for one another. This applies to all areas of life, from political cooperation to mutual support on international platforms,” said the President.

In this context, Vahagn Khachaturyan thanked Lebanon for its recent position expressed during the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Istanbul. He highly appreciated the fact that Lebanon expressed reservations regarding the wording of the adopted statement, which at Azerbaijan’s initiative contained anti-Armenian content.

Speaking about the need to further enhance relations between the two countries, the President noted that the future should be viewed with optimism: “I see a brighter future for our two countries,” he added.

Ambassador Maya Dagher thanked the President for the meeting and said: “I am leaving Armenia after serving nearly eight years as ambassador. I leave with sadness, but at the same time, with joy, because, as You mentioned, the future of our two countries is indeed bright.”

During the meeting, the sides addressed the necessity of promptly revitalizing Armenian-Lebanese relations, taking into account the recent reconstruction and recovery processes underway in Lebanon, as well as the deep historical ties and solid foundation of mutual trust between the two peoples.

At the end of the conversation, the President of the Republic wished Ambassador Dagher success and new achievements in her future endeavors.
