The President of the Republic received the Ambassador of Uruguay

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay to Armenia, Silvana Leska Barolini, on the occasion of Uruguay’s Independence Day.

Welcoming the ambassador, President Khachaturyan, through her, conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to the state and people of Uruguay, wishing them peace, development, and prosperity. The President also extended his warm congratulations to Uruguay’s President Yamandú Orsi.

In his remarks, the President emphasized that the 200th anniversary of Independence is an important and symbolic holiday for Uruguay, and one of the nation’s greatest achievements is that for nearly two centuries the country has been free from wars, thus having the opportunity to develop and prosper in conditions of peace.

Ambassador Barolini expressed gratitude for the reception and warm words, assuring that she is making every possible effort to deepen cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, cultural, and other spheres.

During the meeting, the sides underlined the need to boost business ties and promote new formats of cooperation. Referring to prospects of interaction in trade-economic, cultural, and other areas, they highlighted the importance of implementing joint initiatives and programs.

The sides also stressed the importance of high-level mutual visits as a key factor in strengthening bilateral partnership and fostering deeper mutual trust.

Cooperation in the field of information technologies was also discussed. In particular, reference was made to the completion (in 2026) of the construction of a branch of the “Tumo” Center for Creative Technologies in Uruguay, as well as to the issue of opening a representative office of Uruguay’s “Ceibal” digital technologies educational center in Armenia.
