The President of the Republic received the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Dr. Robert Floyd.

President Khachaturyan welcomed Dr. Floyd’s visit to Armenia and highly valued the important activities of the organization aimed at the global ban on nuclear testing and the strengthening of international security. The President recalled that Armenia was among the first countries to join the initiative to establish the organization and, in 1996, was also among the first to sign the treaty.

Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that Armenia has always supported the goals and initiatives of the organization and expressed confidence that cooperation will continue to develop in an equally effective and constructive manner.

Dr. Robert Floyd expressed gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing that he greatly values Armenia’s consistent support for the activities of the CTBTO. He mentioned that he was pleased to visit Armenia again and to discuss new opportunities for expanding cooperation.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of issues related to ensuring nuclear safety and maintaining global stability.

They also touched upon the universal significance of banning nuclear tests, as well as the improvement of mechanisms for their monitoring and prevention. Both sides emphasized the importance of such initiatives aimed at promoting global peace, sustainable development, and regional security.
