President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received representatives of Uruguay’s “Ceibal” organization

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Miguel Brechner, the founder of Uruguay’s “Ceibal” organization, and Mauro Carballo, the organization’s Manager for Artificial Intelligence and Education.

The President welcomed their visit to Armenia, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the “Ceibal” center in the fields of education, high technologies, and artificial intelligence.

The meeting also highlighted the establishment of a “Tumo” center in Uruguay, which creates new opportunities for bilateral exchange of experience, joint development of educational programs, and the promotion of high-tech education. Discussions focused on the practical implementation of the cooperation potential in the fields of education and innovative technologies, as well as the prospects for developing bilateral collaboration using modern technologies.

The President underscored the functions and experience of the “Ceibal” program, noting that it is engaged in introducing new technologies into the entire educational system— including the digitalization of schools, modernization of teaching models, and ensuring equal technological accessibility. The possibility of cooperation in the field of technological equipment recycling and responsible management of high-tech waste was also discussed, which is of urgent importance from educational, environmental, and technological policy perspectives.
