The meeting between President Vahagn Khachaturyan and President Mikheil Kavelashvili took place

Following the official welcoming ceremony for the President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, who arrived in Tbilisi on an official visit, a private conversation was held between President Vahagn Khachaturyan and President Mikheil Kavelashvili, after which an expanded meeting took place with the participation of the delegations.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current dynamics of cooperation within the framework of the strategic partnership between Armenia and Georgia and the directions for its further deepening.

The presidents paid special attention to expanding economic ties, developing transport and communication links, promoting joint projects in the fields of tourism, energy, the business environment, investments, as well as educational, cultural, and youth programs.

President Khachaturyan presented the preparatory process for the 17th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity and the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, both to be held in Armenia in 2026, emphasizing the importance of Georgia’s participation in these international events.

Regional developments were also discussed. The President of Armenia informed his counterpart about the results of the trilateral meeting held in Washington on August 8 and the potential economic impact of unblocking regional infrastructure. It was emphasized that this process is a logical continuation of Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative aimed at fostering cooperation, connectivity, and the opening of communication routes across the region.

The sides exchanged views on establishing peace in the South Caucasus, unblocking transport routes and logistics corridors, including the “TRIPP” project, discussing the new opportunities their implementation could create for the region and adjacent international markets. The discussion also touched upon the potential ways to operationalize routes providing Georgia with access to the Persian Gulf, as well as the possible launch of the Gyumri-Kars railway, which could strengthen the Europe–Central Asia transportation hub.

At the end of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue joint efforts toward strengthening peace, stability, and mutually beneficial cooperation, emphasizing that a secure and prosperous future for the peoples of the region is the result of joint and responsible work.

Following the expanded-format meeting, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan made an entry in the book of honorary guests.
