The newly appointed Ambassador of Cuba to Armenia presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan
The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Armenia, Alfredo Fidel Nieves Portuondo, presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
President Khachaturyan congratulated the Ambassador on assuming office and wished him success in carrying out his responsible mission. The President underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in the development of relations between Armenia and Cuba, noting that the two countries also actively cooperate within the framework of international organizations.
Ambassador Nieves Portuondo expressed his gratitude for the reception and assured that he would make every effort to ensure the continued development and deepening of friendly relations with the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, the sides also addressed mutually beneficial cooperation on international platforms, highlighting the effective interaction between Armenia and Cuba in multilateral formats and the prospects for further expanding this cooperation.
The potential for cooperation in various fields was emphasized, particularly in the area of healthcare, including the exchange of experience, capacity building, and the implementation of joint programs that could contribute to improving the well-being of citizens of both countries.
Regional and global developments were also discussed, in the context of which the sides emphasized the importance of respecting international law and international norms as fundamental prerequisites for stability, security, and peaceful coexistence.
Views were also exchanged on the UN Biodiversity COP-17 Conference to be held in Armenia, stressing the importance of uniting the efforts of the international community in addressing global challenges, including climate change and biodiversity conservation, and recognizing shared responsibility in this regard.
