President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia, Aoki Yutaka.
The President welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated him on the occasion of Japan’s National Day – the Emperor’s Birthday – wishing prosperity and success to the people of Japan.
“I congratulate You and the friendly people of Japan on the occasion of the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries, they have developed on two pillars: democracy and human rights. At that time, as a newly independent country, and now also as a democratic state, we have learned from our Japanese partners and will continue to learn how to rely on democratic values, develop the economy, and raise the standard of living of our citizens,” the President stated.
Ambassador Yutaka expressed his gratitude for the reception and the good wishes.
During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to further develop partnership between Armenia and Japan, as well as opportunities for implementing joint projects. Special attention was given to enhancing cooperation in the political, economic, and high-technology sectors. The importance of Japan’s humanitarian assistance was also emphasized, along with the expansion of cooperation in disaster prevention and management.
The sides highlighted the importance of implementing joint initiatives in the field of agriculture, as well as strengthening bilateral relations and promoting new programs in various directions.
Both sides underlined the significance of developing high-level political dialogue, mutual visits, and parliamentary diplomacy. In addition, they exchanged views on regional peace and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
President Khachaturyan expressed gratitude to the Government and authorities of Japan for their continued support in establishing peace in the region.
