President Vahagn Khachaturyan met with Alen Simonyan

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met at the Presidential Residence with Alen Simonyan, who is concluding his term as President of the National Assembly.

The President of the National Assembly expressed his gratitude for the meeting, as well as for their joint work and cooperation.

“I felt it was the right thing to do, at the end of my term as President of the National Assembly, to come and personally thank You for Your work, our cooperation, and for Your friendly and professional advice and support. I greatly value the friendship and the role of an elder friend that You hold in my heart, my soul, and my mind,” said National Assembly President Alen Simonyan.

President Khachaturyan emphasized the importance of the work carried out by the 8th Convocation of the National Assembly and Alen Simonyan’s role in leading the Parliament from 2021 to 2026.

“I served as a member of the National Assembly from 1995 to 1999, so I know very well what a parliamentary environment means, with its debates and discussions. However, unlike those years, the period from 2021 to 2026 was exceptional because of all the challenges we experienced. We have gone through this period together since March 2022, when I assumed the office of President of the Republic, and before that, while serving as a minister.

I am also grateful for the support You provided both during that period and afterward, during my presidency. Believe me, what this convocation of the National Assembly has accomplished is historic. It is historic because of the decisions it has adopted. Since 1990, You are also the only President of the National Assembly to have led Parliament throughout an entire parliamentary term. This, too, is an achievement reflecting the maturation of our democracy,” the President of the Republic stressed.
