President Serzh Sargsyan’s Address to the participants of the Second International Conference on Armenian Studies

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I cordially salute the organizers, participants and guests of the Second International Conference on Armenian Studies. I am very pleased that through the initiative of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences in the capital of all Armenians and Armenology gathered are renowned scholars of the Armenian Studies from all over the world.

It is emblematic that the Second International Conference on Armenian Studies is being conducted in the year when we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the RA National Academy of Sciences.

Ten years have passed since the First International Conference on Armenian Studies. Now, you have come together again to present your achievements and accomplishments in the area of Armenology and to preset future steps.

Armenology, which originated centuries ago and has made a prolific historic journey, today is among the priorities of the Armenian Republic’s scientific area. Nowadays, the Armenian Studies have acquired a new impetus and you – the modern generation of scholars - are moving it forward with untiring dedication. Your studies rest on the pillars of the centuries-long and rich traditions of Mkhitar Sebastatsi, Ghevond Alishan, Michael Chamchian, Mkrtich Avgerian and other titans of Armenology and in these new historical conditions you under the auspices of the Armenian independent statehood have undertaken to reveal the contribution made by the Armenian nation to the world civilization, to bring appreciation and comprehension of our people’s significant input to the humanity’s general advancement. It is gratifying that today too the foreign scholars of the Armenian Studies remaining faithful to the behest of the knights of Armenology such as Antoine Meyer, Victor Langlois, Frederic Makler, Heinrich Hübschmann and other devotees successfully continue their studies in this area.
Just as any significant and outstanding spiritual phenomenon, Armenology requires continuous development and its tomorrow will be brighter and even more glorious than it is today - just as the future of our country and our nation.

Dear Armenologists,

I once again salute you - the participants of the Second International Conference on Armenian Studies and wish you productive works and prolific scientific activities.
