Address by President Serzh Sargsyan to the participants of the 34th Congress of the International Theatre Institute

Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,

Organizing the Congress of the International Theater Institute in Yerevan is a significant event in our country’s cultural life, and I cordially welcome all the participants of the congress.

I am confident that by carrying out decades-long activities, the institute has managed to build a cultural bridge between nations and countries, stimulating close spiritual ties and mutual recognition among peoples. I am glad that the National Center for Armenian Theatre Workers is the part of this prestigious organization, and it is no accident that the International Theatre Institute has accepted the center’s invitation to hold its regular 34th congress in Armenia.

Since ancient times, Armenia has had theatrical traditions, as well as deeply-rooted knowledge about how to use culture to promote universal moral qualities, friendship between peoples and world peace.

I strongly believe that this congress will become a platform to boost cooperation and accomplish new programs and projects, thereby contributing to the development of contemporary theatre and dealing with present issues.

I wish success and fruitful work to the congress, as well as warm and unforgettable impressions of Armenia to the participants.
