Message of the President of the Republic on the occasion of Republic Day
Dear citizens of the Republic of Armenia,
Dear compatriots,
I warmly congratulate all of us on Republic Day, May 28.
On this day in 1918, the Armenian people reaffirmed their united will to have a unique place on the political map of the world by founding the First Republic of Armenia.
Despite its short existence, the First Republic had an invaluable impact on our national path, becoming an experience in building an independent state and a pillar of the principles of freedom and sovereignty.
Having an independent state is a vital condition for the continuity of our culture, language, identity, and history. The First Republic, through its example, demonstrated that even in the most difficult circumstances, it is possible to establish statehood through one’s own efforts. These values guided us toward the establishment of the Third Republic, making May 28 not only a day of historical remembrance but also a symbolic day that unites generations.
Today, as 107 years ago, we are facing new challenges—security-related, political, social, and moral-psychological. Overcoming them requires collective work, sober and realistic thinking, public solidarity, and a commitment to the values of democracy.
Education and science must be at the core of our development, as a guarantee of long-term stability and progress. Each of our individual responsibilities toward the state and future generations is the driving force behind our country’s development.
May May 28 once again remind us of the price of statehood and our responsibility to preserve it for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia and the well-being of our people.
Happy Republic Day!
