New Year and Christmas events for children kick off at Presidential Palace


The annual New Year and Christmas events for children kicked off today at the Presidential Palace. Around 300 excellent pupils of secondary schools were hosted at 26 Baghramyan Avenue.

Every year more than 1000 six to 12-year-old children – alumni of care and protection institutions (boarding schools and orphanages), children of Syrian Armenian refugees, children from RA border communities, as well as those who have made high progress at schools, children and grandchildren of servicemen and deceased freedom fighters – participate in festive events organized at the Presidential Palace in the run up to New Year.

This year, the festive events for children will take place from the 24th to 25th December. Children from a series of border villages, including Chambarak and Vahan villages in Gegharkunik marz, Khndzorut, Bardzruni, Khachik and Sers villages in Vayots Dzor marz, Yeraskh village in Ararat marz, Barekamavan, Berdavan, Dovegh and Baghanis villages in Tavush marz, children of Syrian Armenian refugees, children and grandchildren of deceased and disabled freedom fighters and of veterans of the Artsakh Liberation War and servicemen, including those from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, and children with limited abilities are to be hosted at the Presidential Palace. The children from border communities arrive in the capital a day earlier and apart from the festive event at the Presidential Palace, an additional cultural program is organized for them, which involves tours to the History Museum of Armenia and Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum. The children will also visit Republic Square and will watch the events held on the occasion of the holidays.
