President Vahagn Khachaturyan’s working visit to the Vatican

On May 18, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan participated in the solemn inauguration ceremony of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in St. Peter's Square (Vatican).

Among the distinguished guests at the event were President of Italy Sergio Mattarella, President of Peru Dina Boluarte, and Vice President of the United States James David Vance.

More than 150 delegations from various countries and international organizations attended the solemn ceremony.

During his working visit to the Holy See (Vatican), President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with His Beatitude Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Church of Cilicia, and students of the Levonian Seminary adjacent to the St. Nicholas Armenian Catholic Church in Rome.

During the meeting, President Khachaturyan addressed the overall internal and external situation of Armenia, the existing challenges, and the principles adopted by the Armenian authorities to address them.

The President emphasized that Armenia currently holds a clear position on achieving peace in the region and establishing good-neighborly relations with its neighbors.

At the end of the meeting, the President answered questions of concern to the attendees in a warm and open atmosphere.

As part of his working visit to the Holy See (Vatican), President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome.

At the church, the President paid tribute to the memory of Pope Francis and laid flowers at his grave.
