On April 9, the President of Armenia conducted a working visit to Tavush marz.

President Sargsyan attended the ceremony of inauguration of the totally renovated medical center in Ijevan.

The center was renovated in the framework of the World Bank “Modernization of the Armenian healthcare system” program which is driven by the strategy of optimizing the RA healthcare system through the introduction of high-quality and improved medical services.

The Ijevan medical center is a modern, high-tech facility equipped with video and teleconferencing connections with Yerevan’s Saint Gregory Illuminator and Erebuni medical centers which allows to promptly arrange consultations when needed.

Later, at the administrative office of Tavush region the President of Armenia discussed social and economic problems of the marz with the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorkian and the Head of Tavush regional administration Armen Ghularian.

From Ijevan the President of Armenia headed for Dilijan where he toured the construction site of the Central Bank’s “Dilijan” regional financial and banking center, familiarized with the construction works and studied the blueprint of the center. The President of Armenia visited also the construction site of the center’s administrative and residential building.

Serzh Sargsyan visited also outdoors amphitheater of Dilijan, Old Dilijan-Tufenkian Center. The President of Armenia familiarized with the development plans for the reconstruction and construction of a new branch for the Old Dilijan compound.

President Sargsyan visited also the site of the international school which will be constructed in Dilijan. The President of Troyka-Dialogue group Ruben Vardanian presented the idea of the project and the outline of the school.

The President of Armenia welcomed the initiative and wished success to its authors and implementers. According to the President, “It is very important to have in Armenia, particularly in this part of the country, an educational center fully in line with the contemporary requirements.”

President Sargsyan noted that creation of an international boarding school was important for a number of reasons:
“It is no secret that we are small in quantity and thus can achieve success only and only through the quality of our performances. Excellent quality can be acquired only through modern education, which translates into knowledge and later on is successfully implemented. This initiative is also significant from another point of view: we have stated on many occasions that Armenia’s equal development is crucial. Educational centers such as this one can give credit to the capital; Yerevan also needs this kind of institutions, however it is one thing to have a world-class institution in Yerevan, and quite another – to have it in Dilijan. This initiative is also important because our appeals are repeatedly answered by our successful compatriots from abroad. It is a very important and compelling issue for us, and I mean not only state but also regional authorities. We should be able to come up with adequate support to make this kind of initiatives and number of those who put them into practice really substantial. It is very important for us.”

The President of Armenia thanked Ruben Vardanian and his wife for the wonderful initiative and once again appealed to our compatriots, who have become successful entrepreneurs, to come up with the initiatives which would promote Armenia’s advancement.

President Sargsyan also participated at the tree-planting ceremony which symbolized the commencement of the project.
