Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Fischer.

Welcoming the guest, the President of Armenia expressed confidence that the visit of the Czech Prime Minister would give a new impetus to the Armenian-Czech cooperation in bilateral as well as multilateral formats. President Sargsyan said that Armenia is greatly interested is deepening relations with the Czech Republic, adding that bilateral economic relations posses great potential yet to be used.

Jan Fischer said that the Czech Republic attaches great importance to the development of her relations with the countries of the South Caucasus and there are numerous prospects for the expansion of relations with Armenia. Prime Minister Fischer stressed the necessity of developing economic relations and expressed hope that the Armenian-Czech business forum to be held in the framework of the visit would be instrumental.

The parties underlined also the importance of deepening the cooperation in the areas of culture, sport and tourism and development of corresponding programs toward that end.

The President of Armenia and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic spoke also about the NK conflict. Jan Fischer noted that his country maintains a balanced position on this issue and believes that the conflict should be settled on the basis of a consensus among the parties and in the framework of the Minsk Group.
