Today, President Serzh Sargsyan held a farewell meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Armenia Serge Smesoff, who is concluding his diplomatic mission in our country.

President Sargsyan thanked the French Ambassador for his contribution to the strengthening of the Armenian-French relations, “I am confident that today the Armenian-French relations are on a distinctively higher level than they were in 2006, when you were appointed the Ambassador of France to Armenia. Indeed, your personal input to the development of political dialogue, expansion of economic relations and dissemination of French culture in Armenia is significant,” the President of Armenia said.

President Sargsyan expressed gratitude to France – one of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries – for important contribution in maintaining peace and stability in our region, as well as for her efforts and readiness to assist Armenia in the processes of Eurointegration.

The Ambassador of France noted that high assessment of his activities by the President of Armenia and Armenians’ congenial feelings for France were very important to him. “During my tenure I realized that to be Ambassador of France to Armenia means that all doors open for you,” Ambassador Smesoff said and expressed gratitude for cordial attitude and assistance.
