The newly appointed Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation presented his credentials to President Sargsyan
Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation Konstantin Obolensy presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
The President of Armenia congratulated the first resident Swiss Ambassador in our country and wished him all the best. He welcomed the decision of the Swiss authorities to establish full diplomatic representation in Armenia.
Noting that the Armenian-Swiss bilateral relations develop dynamically, Serzh Sargsyan noted that the forthcoming official visit of the President of Swiss Confederation Mrs. Micheline Calmy-Ray provides a good opportunity to speak about the development of bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.
President Sargsyan expressed also gratitude to Switzerland for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The President of Armenia stressed the importance of cooperation with friendly Switzerland in the framework of multilateral organizations such as the UN structures, OSCE, and the EC.
Ambassador Obolensy noted that the legal field for the development of cooperation in different areas and increase of the turnover to the desired level has already been shaped. There is also significant potential which is to be used to its fullest. In strengthening bilateral relations, the parties also stressed great potential of the Swiss Armenians, who raised to prominence in different areas.
