Serzh Sargsyan received delegation of the participants of the International Conference on Higher Education Financing
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received delegation of the participants of the International Conference on Higher Education Financing which is being held on September 8-9 in Yerevan. The Conference is organized in the framework of Armenia’s and Poland’s co-chairmanship of the Bologna process.
The President of Armenia welcomed participants of the conference and noted that goals set by the conference are essential for Armenia. “We view this process as a platform of Eurointegration,” the President of Armenia said and added that reforms in the higher education system of Armenia have been conducted since 2005 and are aimed at bringing the system in compliance with the European standards.
According to President Sargsyan, the Government of Armenia has initiated a process which is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the financing mechanisms for higher education, improved quality of education, equality, accessibility and efficiency. The President stressed the importance of applying the European experience in the process.
The Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotian made a presentation about the proceedings and results of the conference. Participants of the conference spoke with satisfaction about the high organizational level of the forum and efficiency of the discussions. They underscored the importance of the reformation of the higher education system of Armenia and expressed readiness to continue to assist Armenia in the framework of the Bologna process as well as in a bilateral format.
