President Serzh Sargsyan received Christian Vigenin – Co-Chair of the Euronest
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received Christian Vigenin – member of the European Parliament and Co-Chair of the Euronest.
President Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of Christian Vigenin’s visit to our country which, according to the President, is a good opportunity to familiarize first-hand with the developments in Armenia and in the region, observe peculiarities of the existing problems and challenges. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the visit will strengthen and enhance relations between Armenia and EU.
Speaking about activities of Euronest – a parliamentary platform for cooperation between the EU member states and eastern neighbors in the framework of the Eastern Partnership program - the interlocutors assessed it as a functional setting for the facilitation of the dialogue and mutual understanding among the parties, strengthening of ties and cooperation.
Christian Vigenin noted that cooperation among the parliamentarians has already yielded results and his visit is aimed also at boosting that cooperation.
The parties spoke also about reforms implemented in Armenia. Underscoring that our relations with the European Union are anchored in the common system of values, President Sargsyan noted that reforms, which are currently being implemented in Armenia, are of pivotal significance for the deepening of cooperation between Armenia, EU and EU member states.
