Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Armenia Genet Teshome Jirru presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan
Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, Genet Teshome Jirru, presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Congratulating the newly appointed ambassador on assuming his post, President Khachaturyan noted: “The Republic of Armenia highly values its friendly relations with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. These relations have a historical background and are rooted in our civilizational and cultural commonalities. Let us also record positively that the first political consultations have already taken place, and I hope they will continue.”
The newly appointed ambassador expressed gratitude for the warm reception and stated that he is ready to make every effort to strengthen the friendship between the two countries and their peoples.
During the meeting, the prospects for the development of bilateral relations were discussed, highlighting the opportunities for expanding cooperation in education, culture, tourism, high technologies, and other fields. The sides emphasized the importance of establishing and strengthening contacts between the business communities of the two countries, with the aim of promoting initiatives of mutual interest in various sectors of the economy.
The discussion also touched upon the need for the international community’s joint efforts to tackle global challenges. In this context, reference was made to the COP-17 Biodiversity Conference to be held in Armenia in 2026, stressing the importance of cooperation in addressing issues of global significance.
Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue effective cooperation within international organizations and multilateral platforms. The meeting also highlighted the importance of mutual steps to promote tourism, including the development of initiatives aimed at facilitating entry procedures for each other’s citizens.
